Centra to create 300 new positions
One of Ireland’s most well-known corner shops, Centra, is create 300 new jobs across the country due to the opening of new stores and the expansion of existing ones.
50% of the jobs to be created will come from the extension of current franchises and other independent stores joining the group while the other half will come from entirely new businesses.
The refurbishment of existing stores combined with expansion and the new openings will cost upwards of €10 million.
“Our continued success can be put down to our unique offer to consumers in terms of value and the position our retailers fulfil at the heart of their local communities,” said Martin Kelleher, the managing director of Centra.
“Our retail partners have been quick to adapt to the budget-conscious consumer, with initiatives such as rounded price points and multi-buys, combined with excellent bundle offers.”
Centra, which are owned by Musgrave’s, have a total of 458 shops across Ireland and generated sales of €1.4 billion last year.
