Eircom to Expand Services
Telecommunications company Eircom has announced that it will spend €100 million on the first phase of its fibre broadband programme. The first phase will service up to 100,000 homes and businesses in the first year of operation.
The first phase will be finished next summer, and is part of a wider plan to provide a service to a million customers within the next four years. The upgrading of the current system will give customers a faster broadband speed. The network will be open to other providers.
Eircom also has plans to expand into broadband television services, including video on demand and social media via television. Pilot schemes will be introduced early next year.
