I suppose the first thing our members would like to know is how long you have been in business?
Well, firstly, as a precursor to my current business, I had been in the industry for many years. Right around the beginning of the current economic downturn, I had been considering setting up my own business. It’s a hard thing to do to set up a new business in a recession but I was totally convinced I could make a success of it.
So S & S Office Interiors could be considered a small beacon of success in these hard times?
Yes, I would go along with that. I tried to build the company on a certain quality standard because I believe that once the company can establish a good reputation, then the good word spreads. I was able to build up a client base and through that, I was able to take on extra staff.
So how many staff have you currently and are there any plans to take on more?
At the moment, I have three full time staff on the books, as well as a number of independent contractors. However, we are generating a lot of business and will be looking to take on new staff shortly. We particularly want to employ the bright young minds coming out of school and college. In a time of mass emigration, we need to start investing in the new generation and we will be creating new opportunities for them right across the company from logistics to instillation.
So tell us about your most recent success?
The new M50 concessions office was up for an overhaul so we tendered for the job, against four other high quality interior designers. We secured the job and earned the contract to fully renovate and design the new office space. With the number of people that pass by this office, it is a great way to showcase our quality to a mass audience and, from that contract, we were able to generate more business.
And, finally, what can you offer our members?
For all QBA members, we offer free Computer Aided Design (C.A.D.) and Space Planning services. We will come in, measure your space and create a projected outlook on how your office will look upon completion. We will also offer preferential rates and additional discounts for any member’s interior space we design.
